Act · finding help

You do not need to choose the perfect professional first.

Start with a qualified route that feels accessible. A first conversation can help clarify what kind of support fits next.

Common starting points

Different roles can open different doors.

Doctor or sports physician

Can assess physical and mental-health factors together, identify urgency and coordinate referrals.

Psychologist

Offers psychological assessment or therapy within their training and professional scope.

Psychiatrist

A medical doctor specialising in mental health who can diagnose and prescribe where appropriate.

Organisation or federation service

May be the fastest route, but ask exactly who holds the information and whether access is independent of selection.

France

Start through a doctor, psychologist or public route.

Assurance Maladie explains routes through a treating doctor, psychiatrist, psychologist and CMP. Mon soutien psy also allows direct access to participating psychologists for eligible support.

United Kingdom

Use NHS services, a GP or a regulated practitioner.

NHS mental-health services explain urgent and non-urgent access. Some talking-therapy routes allow self-referral. Protected practitioner-psychologist titles can be checked on the HCPC register.

Questions worth asking before you begin

A professional relationship should be understandable before it becomes personal.

  • 01

What is your qualification and current registration?

  • 02

What experience do you have with athletes and my issue?

  • 03

What is confidential, and what are the exceptions?

  • 04

Who pays, what is recorded and who can see it?

  • 05

How do we decide whether this is a good fit?

  • 06

What should I do if I need urgent help between sessions?

Planned MindsMelt verified list

No profile appears until the registration check exists.

The R2 list will begin with 10–20 manually checked professionals across France and the UK. Each entry will show registration body, check date, languages, modality and region. “Verified” will mean registration checked—not a recommendation, referral or guarantee of fit.
